TESTIMONIALS

Plata catered our wedding in Oakland and we could not be happier. I initially came across Plata on Instagram when I saw a post with an amazing porchetta they made for another event. I reached out to Cristina immediately to connect with her to learn more. From our first conversation with Cristina and her team we were incredibly impressed by her approach and understanding of the unique food style we wanted for our wedding. We had a brainstorming conversation and she followed up with a menu that perfectly married her Argentinian flavors with the African, Mexican, and Italian influences that we were looking for. We decided we wanted to try out her empanadas before booking, so we arranged a time to meet in the Bay Area (at an Amtrak station between trains, in fact!). The empanadas were warm when we got them and we absolutely loved them. Throughout the months leading up to our wedding Cristina and her team were flexible to tweaks we were looking for with the menu, respectful of our budget constraints, and responsive to our questions. They visited our venue independently and had a clear plan of attack for the day of. They even introduced us to our bartender for the wedding, who was also wonderful. The food at our wedding was great. We had a fabulous cheese and charcuterie grazing board (expertly selected by Plata) during cocktail hour in addition to empanadas and rice balls. The dinner menu (porchetta, chicken galantine, stuffed pasta, green salad, shrimp with corn porridge, other accompaniments) turned out to be delicious. The staff they brought along were friendly and helpful. As foodies, we had high expectations (as did our guests) -- Plata definitely lived up to them! We are still hearing about the pasta and rice balls in particular! Thank you Cristina and team!

Plata catered my grandmother's birthday. Their empanadas were bomb. My family is from Venezuela and I was happy to have found a South American catering company so near by. I'm Definitely calling them for my parents' anniversary. Thanks Plata!

If you want a great professional and personalized catering service look no further. The staff at Plata are extremely personable, precise, insightful, and accommodating. I hired their services this past November '21 to cater my Fall Harvest Party. They not only did an excellent job in the serving, but proved to be excellent in assisting to host the party. They suggested several wonderful ideas and menu choices that made the event a smash. When they prepared the main dishes they did so after overviewing the venue, making sure that the guest had a chance to see the paella, pig head and other dishes made, which were events in and of themselves. At no point did I need to worry about the food prep, presentation, or storage. They did it all, even serving up a custom taco station in which they prepared fresh tacos for guests. They made the evening an excellent event, and with that it was one to remember. Consider them for your next event as they are also reasonably priced.

Such kind people and great food. Plata catered my birthday last month and did a wonderful job. We had gnocchi with an assortment of grilled meats, chimichurri, a dozen empanadas and a beautiful winter salad. For dessert we had a flourless chocolate cake with dulce de leche ice cream (yum). I shared the left overs with my neighbor and she called them the next day to place an order! Thanks for being part of my celebration!

Looks like I'm getting the privilege to be Plata Catering's first review. Let me start by saying thank you to Cristina (Owner/Chef) & her team for being able to accommodate the last minute venue change. We came across this local gem while looking for someone to cater my wife's retirement celebration last month & it was the perfect fit being that my wife had spent several years living in South America after graduate school. Now, for those unfamiliar, Argentine food is a fusion of predominantly European (Italian, Spanish, German) & indigenous South American cooking techniques & recipes. The event was catered family style & we began the evening with an assortment of empanadas (beef, corn, & swiss chard) & corn + potato galette. The main course consisted of a grilled flank steak over heirloom tomato salad, chicken milanesa, & a summer risotto. In short the experience was wonderful, the food exceptional, & the staff professional. I would 10 out of 10 hire Plata to cater for us again & plan on recommending them to all of my friends & family, I implore you to do as well.
